Thousand Island Dip and Spread

This Thick Thousand Island Dip and Spread uses only three ingredients and a simple trick to make this sauce thick and easy to spread.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 cup Canola mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons ketchup

Instructions

  1. Put the 1/3 cup sweet pickle relish in a fine strainer placed over a bowl or sink.

  2. Use the back of a soup spoon to press the syrup from the relish. The syrup will end up in the bowl below the strainer. Discard the syrup.

  3. Combine the pressed sweet pickle relish, 1 cup canola mayonnaise, and 2 Tablespoons ketchup in a medium bowl.

  4. Mix everything together until well blended.

That's all there is to it. Keep in a jar, or other container with a tightly sealed lid, in the refrigerator until ready to use.

  • If you use fresh ingredients, this Thousand Island Dip and Spread should keep in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator for at least a month.
  • I use Best Foods Canola mayonnaise. This is reflected in the Nutrition Facts. If you use a different brand or variety of mayonnaise, the Nutrition Facts will be different. In particular, it will probably have more calories per tablespoon.
